The Acute Medicine Unit runs as a Centre of Diagnostic Excellence, with senior decision-makers present throughout the day and a genuine commitment to GIM breadth alongside acute medicine. The unit covers 20 AMU beds with a fully integrated Medical SDEC, receiving patients directly from primary care, ambulance services and the Emergency Department. What you will be doing Managing acute medical admissions with a focus on timely assessment and discharge Supervising junior doctors and ANPs across AMU and Medical SDEC Supporting and advising the SDEC team day to day Teaching undergraduate medical students and junior doctors Participating in the consultant on-call rota Contributing to governance, audit and service development What you will need Full GMC registration with a licence to practise Specialist Registration, or within 6 months of CCT or CESR at time of interview Broad experience in acute medicine and general internal medicine Ability to supervise junior doctors and medical students Evidence of audit involvement Enthusiasm for acute medicine in a diagnostic-focused environment What makes this role worth considering The job plan is built around you.
