A leading Stroke Centre in the East Midlands is recruiting a Consultant in Stroke Medicine to support a high-performing, rapidly developing stroke service. This role sits at the heart of a Comprehensive Stroke pathway, offering exposure to hyperacute care, thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy workflows and rehabilitation medicine.

The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic consultant team delivering cutting-edge stroke care to a large regional population and contributing to pathway optimisation and service expansion.

This centre provides a full breadth of specialist stroke care, including:
• 24/7 thrombolysis
Hyperacute stroke management
Mechanical thrombectomy support for the region
• Acute and rehabilitation stroke units
• Close collaboration with neurology, neurosurgery and therapy teams
• A culture of continuous improvement, innovation and clinical leadership

You will contribute across hyperacute, acute and rehabilitation pathways, working within a multidisciplinary framework committed to improving outcomes.


✅ Essential Criteria

To be considered, applicants must have:
MBBS
Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
Full MRCP
• Extensive experience in Stroke Medicine
• Experience with hyperacute stroke care and thrombolysis
• NHS experience in Stroke, Neurology, or Geriatric Medicine
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work within a consultant-led service


⭐ Desirable Experience

• Exposure to Mechanical Thrombectomy pathways
• Experience in service development or QI
• Prior work in a Comprehensive Stroke Centre
• Teaching, supervision and audit experience
CESR candidates are welcome and informal support can be available

The role combines frontline paediatric emergency care with leadership, education, and governance responsibilities. You will drive clinical quality, deliver senior decision-making for all paediatric attendances, and support the development of a modern, child-friendly emergency service. Key Responsibilities Deliver consultant-led paediatric emergency care, including assessment, stabilisation and early management of acutely ill or injured children. Lead PEM service development, safeguarding, and clinical governance activity. Provide teaching, supervision and support for trainees, ACPs and nursing teams. Work collaboratively across Paediatrics, Anaesthetics, Surgery and other acute specialties. Contribute to audit, QI, research and service improvement programmes. Essential Criteria Primary medical qualification with Full GMC Registration. FCEM/FRCEM, FRCA, FRCS, MRCP or equivalent. Specialist Register entry or eligibility for CCT within 6 months. Significant PEM experience post-qualification. Completion of ACCS competencies (CT1–3) or 36 months equivalent training. EM Training Programme with PEM sub-specialist qualification (RCEM or RCPCH). Valid ALS and EPALS/APLS; ATLS/ETC desirable. Proven competence in paediatric emergency assessment, procedures and advanced life support.
