We are working with a respected NHS Trust in the North of England seeking a Consultant Haematologist to join their team. This role offers a diverse mix of clinical and laboratory responsibilities, with cross-site duties between York and Scarborough.
Key Highlights:
Permanent Consultant post with up to 12 PAs available
1:7 on-call Rota (Category A) with 1 PA in the job plan and 5% on-call availability supplement
Involvement in a wide range of services including:
Haemato-oncology
Diagnostic laboratory haematology
Transfusion services
Must be able to provide expert advice in blood film reporting and transfusion/clotting over the phone during on-calls
Cross-site responsibilities at Scarborough: outpatient clinics, inpatient reviews, and lab work
Essential Criteria:
Full GMC registration with a license to practice
MRCP and MRCPath (or equivalent)
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Haematology (or within 6 months of CCT or Portfolio Pathway (CESR) approval at the time of interview)
Proven independent experience in both clinical and laboratory haematology at consultant level
Competence in haemato-oncology, lab diagnostics, and transfusion support (to be clearly demonstrated in the CV)
Additional Information:
Shortlisted candidates will attend a virtual Technical Specification Panel and an in-person Advisory Appointment Committee

About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Stroke Medicine to join a high-performing NHS stroke service. You will lead and deliver high-quality stroke care across inpatient and outpatient pathways, with access to state-of-the-art diagnostics, therapy teams, and collaborative multidisciplinary support. This is a vital role as the Trust strengthens its Hyperacute Stroke Unit and develops thrombectomy and rehabilitation services.
Main Responsibilities
Lead daily stroke ward rounds on the Hyperacute and Acute Stroke Units.
Conduct and support TIA and follow-up clinics.
Participate in the thrombolysis rota (including remote advice).
Provide clinical leadership in collaboration with Acute, General, Neurology, and Geriatric Medicine teams.
Liaise closely with community stroke rehabilitation teams and allied health professionals.
Support education for trainees, FY doctors, and medical students.
Engage in audit, quality improvement, and research activity (e.g. SSNAP).
Attend governance meetings, contribute to clinical strategy, and assist service development.
