We are seeking a dedicated Consultant in Acute Internal Medicine to join the expanding team at a leading Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in West Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, consultant-led care across Acute Medical Units and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) services.

About the Role

In this position, you will:

  • Provide daily consultant-led input to acute medical patients

  • Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds and contribute to SDEC services

  • Offer clinical leadership to junior doctors and allied health professionals

  • Actively participate in teaching, audit, quality improvement, and service development

A provisional job plan will be discussed upon appointment and reviewed within the first six months.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

  • GMC registration with a license to practise

  • Substantial experience in managing acute medical conditions in hospital settings

  • Strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care

  • Experience in teaching and supervising junior medical staff

  • Evidence of involvement in audit, clinical governance, or quality improvement

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • Subspecialty interest aligned with the department’s needs

  • Experience in Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

  • Completion of teaching or postgraduate education qualifications

  • Published research or evidence of research involvement

  • Prior experience in the NHS as a consultant or senior clinician
