Join a dynamic and supportive Anaesthetic team in a beautiful part of the UK.

We are working with a welcoming District General Hospital in the North West seeking to appoint a Consultant or Locum Consultant in Anaesthetics to join their growing and forward-thinking team.

You will be part of a department comprising 8 Consultants, along with a strong team of Specialists, Specialty Doctors, and ACCPs.


Clinical Opportunities:

Depending on your skills and interests, you may be involved in:

  • Main theatres including Maternity, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics and Trauma, ENT, and Ophthalmology

  • Elective surgical lists

  • Emergency and Obstetric anaesthesia

  • Supporting Intensive Care services

You will participate in a 1:8 Consultant-of-the-Week rota, with non-residential on-call cover for Obstetrics and emergency theatres, supervising a resident anaesthetist.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage pre- and post-operative care in theatre admissions

  • Participate in clinical audit, governance, and quality improvement

  • Contribute to service development in your areas of special interest

  • Maintain evidence-based practice and fulfil revalidation and appraisal requirements


Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise

  • FRCA or equivalent recognised higher anaesthetic qualification

  • FICM or equivalent qualification in Intensive Care Medicine

  • Broad exposure to anaesthesia including laparoscopic, trauma, emergency, and obstetric surgery

  • Formal ICM training

  • Evidence of clinical audit and quality improvement participation

Desirable:

  • Higher postgraduate qualifications in education or research

  • Subspecialty interest in line with departmental needs
