Who We’re Looking For Specialist training in Infectious Diseases – the key requirement. Consultant-level or senior experience in Infectious Diseases. Candidates with Infectious Diseases, Medical Microbiology or combined ID & Microbiology backgrounds. Internationally trained doctors with relevant Consultant-level experience are welcome. Microbiology Candidates The Health Board is open to considering: Pure Medical Microbiology candidates. ID + Microbiology candidates. Infectious Diseases-only candidates. The balance between Infectious Diseases and Microbiology can be flexible according to the candidate’s experience, although Infectious Diseases training remains the priority. Overseas Candidates Doctors who are not yet on the UK Specialist Register may also be considered, including candidates progressing towards the GMC Portfolio Pathway. Internationally trained doctors with Consultant-level experience will also be considered. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality adult Intensive Care services. Manage critically ill patients within a unit transitioning towards a fully closed critical care model. Contribute to service development, clinical governance and quality improvement. Support the resuscitation, stabilization and acute management of critically ill children. Participate in clinical teaching, audit and departmental research. Essential Requirements Primary medical qualification. Full GMC registration with a license to practice. Eligibility to work in the UK. Demonstrable commitment to and experience in Intensive Care Medicine training. Clinical competence in managing critically ill adult patients. Evidence of clinical teaching and classroom-based education. Ability to undertake audit cycles and contribute to multidisciplinary research. Desirable Experience Previous NHS experience. Dual CCT in another relevant specialty. Experience leading or managing service transitions. Additional subspecialty training. APLS, EPALS or equivalent certification. Key Responsibilities Provide senior clinical leadership within the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). Manage acute medical admissions, post-take ward rounds and Same Day Emergency Care pathways. Support patient flow, early discharge and multidisciplinary working. Supervise junior doctors and Advanced Practitioners. Contribute to teaching, clinical governance, audit and service development.
