Based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, with outpatient duties at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, and consultative on-call service for the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry, this role offers a diverse and fulfilling clinical experience.

About the Trust:
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.
Encompassing some of the most picturesque parts of England and Wales, the Trust’s catchment stretches from the Cambrian Mountains in the west, to Newport and the fringes of the Black Country in the east. The main towns include: Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Whitchurch (in Shropshire). Newport, Telford and Wellington (in Telford & Wrekin) and Newtown and Welshpool (in Powys) – are all beautiful and unique.
Our main service locations are the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) in Shrewsbury which are located 20 minutes’ drive apart. Together they provide 99% of our activity. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care.
We also provide services such as consultant-led outreach clinics at the Wrekin Community Clinic, Telford, the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Gobowen and the Bridgnorth, Ludlow and Whitchurch Community Hospitals.
Job Overview:
In our department, you'll be part of a closely knit team of Consultants & Clinical Nurse Specialists offering a broad spectrum of haematological care. Your role will involve a range of clinical duties, including supporting professional activities, CPD, audit, teaching, and research, as well as laboratory cover and participation in multi-disciplinary team meetings.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage both predictable and unpredictable haematological cases.
Provide expert clinical opinion on a range of emergency and elective haematological problems.
Develop enhanced clinical skills, particularly in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
Work effectively within a multi-professional team, delivering high-quality care and meeting clinical and quality targets.
Follow patients throughout their clinical pathway, ensuring continuity of care.
About You:
MBBS, MB ChB, or equivalent medical qualification.
Possession of FRCPath (Haematology) and MRCP or equivalent qualifications.
Full Registration and a license to practice with the General Medical Council (GMC), or eligibility for registration within six months of interview.
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Haematology via CCT, CESR, or European Community Rights.
Experience in offering expert clinical opinion and taking independent responsibility for patient care.
Experience in audit and the ability to motivate and develop multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to teach clinical skills to medical, nursing, and laboratory staff.
